We are patiently waiting in the queues at customs! Christie pulling the first pregnancy card of the trip :)

We seem to be on schedule, hope our bag arrives in the US. The flight is chockers, we will have to learn patience with these Yanks, lol. American air hostess getting on our nerves already.

We will be using this email format to update the blog. Hope you stay entertained!!

Celebrations All Round

Jaco and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary this week and it was strange to consider that this will be the last one with just the 2 of us! I’m not sure if we know what its going to be like with a 3rd person around. Now we’ll be able to start using the word “family” as 2 of us seems too small to be a real family. I am also wondering whether my darling hubby will still continue spoiling me with sending bouquets of red roses to work? Mmmm, we’ll have to see about that one.

BC is growing nicely. Someone at work even pointed out that I look “bigger” not more pregnant, but “bigger”! I took that as a compliment……I think. BC also got to experience his / her first Christmas celebration this last weekend when we visited my parents-in-law on their farm 2 hours from Cape Town. Since we are going to be in the States for a whole month, we arranged to celebrate an early Christmas with Jaco’s family. On the Christmas menu was delicious potjiekos and a traditional trifle! We also exchanged Christmas pressies and BC was very pleased to receive some toys: his / her first teddy bear and puzzle! This ones going to be a clever one I think!

Speaking of which, I have started listening to Mozart in the car on my way to the office everyday. Thank goodness it’s only an 8 minute journey because I don’t like classical music at the best of times, so any longer than that, and it drives me potty! I’ve been told that listening to Mozart, especially while you’re pregnant, significantly increases the likelihood of your baby being very intelligent and very good at mathematics. And BC needs all the help it can get if it has me for a mother although I’m hoping it inherits Jaco’s mathematical genius!

I was also very pleased to note that I weigh the least that I’ve ever been in the last couple of years. This is probably due to the fact that I’ve lost my appetite for yummy sweet things and the persistence of evening sickness continues. My bubble was promptly burst with Jaco telling me it’s only because I’m losing muscle weight from not cycling as much! Anyway, I still think it’s because this baby has got one hot skinny mommy!! Ha ha just kidding! I’m trying to do exercise at least 4 times a week including a swimming session, a body-conditioning session and 2 stints on the indoor trainer. But I suspect my weight will change soon as in the next 3 weeks the baby will double its weight and increase in length as it experiences a growth spurt. BC is now the size of an avocado and is able to clutch and play with the umbilical cord. (sounds like a kitten with a piece of string being dangled in front of it!). As BC grows, its bones are also starting to solidify. My dad has decided to call BC “minimus” instead which is quite apt I think since I’m hoping for a girl (mini miss). We’ll hopefully be able to find out next Friday at our next scan.

Right now it’s back to bed, as I’ve been diagnosed with Tracheitis (infection of the Trachea) and have been put on antibiotics by the doc!! Not a great way to end the week!
